Rear Window Design

In the film "Rear Window" lighting is a key factor in adding to Hitchcocks suspense and Erie effect. Our main character Jeff is observing his neighbors through his dark appt window. He understands the concept of turning out lights to hide his observing self from neighbor eyes. When observing his murdering neighbor Mr. Thorwald he is looking through his camera lens. Mr. Thorwald works mostly behind his drawn shades besides when the film started and the wife is in bed and after her death when he is cleaning up. Most of this movie is filmed in darkness and hiding having the only perspective of the murder from his bedroom window. Hitchcock does a fantastic job of making the audience feel involved and almost like they are the ones witnessing the murder.  Mis en Scene is portrayed throughout the entire film especially concerning props. In the film Jeff uses his camera, binoculars, his cast, and all characters. Props help make the movie believable.
